When planning this post, I considered whether or not to include both a woman's perspective and a man's perspective. I decided to post tips from a man's perspective, and recruited my husband to help out. Since the largest percentage of my readers are women between the ages of 30 and 55, which includes me, I concluded that we all could learn something together about how men would like us to show our love to them.
My husband was asked to come up with his Top 5 list of things that a woman can do to show love. Surprisingly, they weren't all the same...lol! They are in reverse order with number one being the most important. I will refrain from commentary until the end of the post. Are you ready? Here we go!
5. Cook His Favorite Meal
4. Let Him Have A Guys' Day
Whether it's going golfing, or inviting the guys over to watch a sporting event, be supportive of his need to hang out with his buddies. If you know he's inviting the guys over, prepare some snacks and drinks for them. Even though they're "just guys", set everything out on the table complete with plates, napkins, and ice. If he's going out, try not to fuss about him going--especially if it's a rare occasion that he gets together with his friends.
3. Take Something Off His Honey-Do List
If there is a simple project your husband has been putting off, see what it will take to do it for him. If he is feeling overwhelmed with all the things on his honey-do list, taking care of one of them will be like giving him a Christmas present.
2. Relaxing Massage
When your man has had a long day at work, consider giving him a back rub, or sitting with him on the couch and rub his feet. Paying attention to his needs will show him you care about him, not just the paycheck he brings home.
1. Ahem! You Know...Yes, That's The One
It's not necessary to set off a four-alarm fire, however some good "attention" is beneficial for a man to make him feel loved. No detail will be provided for this one as you can use your imagination to fill in the blanks.
**My husband has asked for me to include a disclaimer in this post. He said that, while he can't speak for ALL men, he thinks that most men will agree and appreciate this list.**
I have a brief commentary to share regarding this list. At first, I had to laugh (and admittedly roll my eyes) at a few of these. As many of you did, I knew number one before the list began. I also had to laugh a little about numbers 2 and 3 because it seems sometimes that our men want fun without responsibilities around the house. Regardless of how well I received this Top 5 list, it is still a real picture of how men think and how they can feel loved.
I hope that you can use this Top 5 to either get a great laugh, and/or learn ways to show love to your man. As always, I am interested in getting your feedback. Please feel free to leave a comment below.
