Our Valentine Breakfast

February 14, 2013

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! To make the morning special, I made my kiddos some special pancakes. They didn't take long, but they were received very well. Keeping breakfast simple, yet fun, saves time and doesn't wear this mama out!

I have a great recipe for making my own pancake mix. (Click here for the post with the recipe.) I only need to add one egg and some milk.
This saves from having to buy a mix at the store because I use ingredients I already keep on hand. I have enlisted the help of my handy repurposed creamer container to pour batter into my cast iron skillet.

For today, I added about 5-6 drops of pink food color and some semi-sweet chocolate chips. My kids prefer chocolate chip pancakes to plain pancakes (okay, I do too...lol). Of course, I then poured the pancakes into the shape of hearts.

I share this with you because it's Valentine's Day, but also because it doesn't take much to make kids happy. Spending just a little bit of effort goes a long way to depositing into their "love bank". I hope this encourages you to be creative in a simple way to enjoy your day!
