Child Training Bible Review & Giveaway

July 4, 2012

Have you heard the verse, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it", and then saying to yourself, "but how do I do that"? Some parents get frustrated, not knowing how to begin teaching their kids about temper tantrums, lying, tattling, or some other less-than-ideal behavior. We were very fortunate to find a great system for kids and their parents. It's called the Child Training Bible, created by Mindy Dunn.

The Child Training Bible is a tool that allows parents and children to go directly to the pages of Scripture for instruction in 20 key areas of behavior. It also includes a complete section dedicated to the Gospel. It is a 3-part color-code system for quick access to all verses for a particular topic. For example, verses related to ANGER would be marked in yellow.

The Child Training Bible set includes 4 easy to follow charts containing over 200 verses, application questions, and suggested prayers, along with the instructions for setting up your Bible. The set does not include a Bible, however, because it provides families the ability to use the version of their choice. The version we used was a New Living Translation, however your family may want to use King James, New American Standard, or another version.

To use the Child Training Bible set, you will need: a Bible of your choice, 7 colors of Post-It Tabs (approximately 30 tabs each color), and 7 matching colors of highlighters. Mindy has a link to purchase the supplies on her website. It does take some time to set up the tabs and highlighting in your Bible, however the long-term benefit of this system FAR outweighs the time spent.

You can make the Child Training Bible central to your home for providing answers to how to "train up" your children in the ways of the Lord. Young people, and some adults, think that the Bible is not relevant today. What better way to show them the relevancy of Scripture than to go straight to the source for instruction on positive behavior. If your kids see YOU going to the Bible every day for answers, they are much more likely to depend on it to help them when they grow up.

I am proud to announce a giveaway for a Child Training Bible set. I feel so strongly about the benefits of this system, that I will also provide a Bible as part of the giveaway! You may enter below for as many options as you wish. Entries will be accepted until Saturday, July 20, 2012 at 11:59pm EST.
