Journal of a Move: Part 4

It's been a while since I have updated the progress of our relocation. So, it's time to let you know what's been happening.

We have the house listed and it's been on the market for a month and a half. We have only had one couple visit so far. When I research listings in our area in our price range, they have been sitting on the market for years...yes, years. It seems that it would be a buyers market, except no one is moving on the price of their listings. Since we live in a historic area, there is some logic to that I suppose.

When I research the listings in the new location, I want to look at what is in our price range. However, there's the issue of not selling our house. People have gotten themselves into a lot of trouble when they decide to finance a new house and their existing house is not sold. There's only so much blame we can place on mortgage companies when it comes to financing. We can make our own responsible decisions.

Speaking of listings in the new location, it's a seller's market. People are in bidding wars over homes and offering more than the listing price. Wow! The market has certainly turned around...there. A couple years ago home values crashed, making it great for buyers to get more house than what they could previously afford.

With clearly opposite housing markets between here and there, it seems impossible that a transition will be smooth. Prayer is a must. Not only about selling a house, but knowing whether or not a relocation is the best decision.

In my last post, I mentioned Facebook video chats. Well, we've stopped them for the most part. It remained a difficulty for the kids. It's been easier for them to talk on the phone a couple times per week.
